Volt was founded to answer a question the solar industry had stopped asking. What if the roof was the solar system.
Where this started.
Volt begins with utility scale solar. Pete Leeson spent more than a decade developing solar farms in Australia, with 150MW operational and 500MW developed, among them the Robinvale, Cohuna and Girgarre projects. That work is where the company learned how energy assets are financed, connected to the grid and built, and it is the reason Volt is able to work on land as readily as it works on roofs.
The problem we saw.
Alongside that work sat rooftop solar, and every installation was an afterthought. A panel bolted to a roof that was never designed to hold it. A product that compromised the building it was meant to serve. Homeowners who wanted something better did not believe better was possible.
The founding.
Volt Solar Tile Pty Ltd was incorporated in April 2019. The idea was simple. Build a solar tile that is genuinely part of the roof rather than attached to it. Patented technology. No roof penetrations. No exposed cabling. One product, one installation, one warranty.
From prototype to commercial.
Volt reached commercial production in October 2022. In September 2024 it took Gold in the Engineering category at the Australian Good Design Awards. In November 2024, 452 people backed the company through a crowdfunding round that closed well above its minimum.
The pivot.
In late 2025 Volt moved from component supplier to vertically integrated energy company. Rather than selling solar tiles through a partner network, the company now sells and installs complete solar roofing systems directly. At the same time Volt established Volt Projects, taking the same platform onto land and into the grid.
What Volt is today.
Volt Solar Tile Pty Ltd is the holding company for the group. It holds the technology, the manufacturing relationships and the international distribution agreements. Three operating businesses sit under it, drawing on the same engineering, the same supply chain and the same installation capability.

Manufacture and distribute
Volt Solar Tile
Manufactures the solar roof tile and distributes it, in Australia and internationally through the group's distribution agreements. The tile is the roof rather than something fixed to it, so there are no penetrations and no exposed cabling.
Sell and install
Volt Installations
Sells and installs complete Volt systems and batteries. Work is carried out by Volt's own team and a certified network of accredited solar electricians and roofing specialists, so the company is accountable for the finished roof rather than the box.
Develop on land
Volt Projects
Community scale solar farms and Volt Reserve battery storage, developed in long term partnership with landowners and councils across regional Australia. Volt Projects earns development fees on each project and retains equity in every fourth, so a generation portfolio builds alongside the development business. It is led by Jesse Nicholls, who has brought 200MW to ready to build status.

Seven years of building.

Commercial production reached. Volt exhibits at All Energy Australia.
First international installation completed in France.
Good Design Award Gold, Engineering category, in September. Crowdfunding round closes in November, backed by 452 investors. Architect CPD programme runs in Melbourne and Sydney with Brickworks Group.
Direct to consumer pivot. Volt Projects established. Australian Technologies Competition semi-finalist.

Peter Leeson
Founder and Managing Director
A renewable energy project developer and building integrated PV specialist with more than a decade across the Australian renewables industry, spanning grid connection, planning and permitting, project management, civil works, PV design and electrical systems engineering. Before founding Volt he developed the Robinvale, Cohuna and Girgarre solar farms, and secured 2025 Federal Government Capacity Investment Scheme underwriting for the Corop Solar Farm. Founded Volt in April 2019 and is its Managing Director and Company Secretary.
Zoe Leeson
Non Executive Director
A background in law and administration, with experience drawn from across the Leeson Group's previous businesses. Holds a Bachelor of Legal Studies with a focus on social sciences, and brings broad experience in business operations and complex legal matters. Zoe sits on the board and holds no operational role in the company.
Jesse Nicholls
General Manager, Developments
A land, planning and environment professional with more than 20 years across the private and public sectors in Australia and the United Kingdom. Has brought 200MW to ready to build status, originated more than 100MW in New South Wales and 250MW in Victoria, and developed a portfolio of sub 5MW solar and battery projects in Victoria. Led the community programme supporting the Corop Solar Farm bid.
Peter Noye
Head of Sales and Business Development
More than 20 years in account and project management, with a strong aptitude for stakeholder relationships. Has worked across a range of industries in the Asia Pacific region. Builds and holds Volt's key stakeholder relationships, in particular the partnerships with solar installation companies across Australia.
Natassja Lindrea
Brand and Marketing Manager
Has led brand development for more than eight years, driving growth across both B2C and B2B through national and international marketing strategies. Builds the narrative and runs the campaigns that carry it, with a focus on purpose driven work and meaningful engagement with customers.
